We here at FH are a full stop for your fantasy football needs. We feel a like we would being you a disservce by not mentioning a fairly under the radar player that you can scoop up late in your drafts this year. I honestly didnt know a lot about this player at the start of the combine/draft season but here's a name you need to keep an eye on come draft day; A.T. Perry. He has the size to be an X Receiver in the NFL, fantastic production at Wake Forest and intriguing intangibles that could help him succeed in the NFL.
Running report. Long fluid strides and has nice breakaway speed. Fantastic agility and explosive breaks, smoothly running into his routes. Perry is nimble and can cycle through his gears to shake coverage. A.T also has run a nice robust route tree during his time at Wake Forest, having lined up all over the formation.
Catching report: Tracks the ball exceptionally well, strong hands and long arms to make catches away from his body. Made strong catches in traffic and under duress. Unfortunately he makes a few focus drops, something ideally he needs to work on at the next level.
Strengths. Football I.Q. A.T. is an intelligent player who knows where to be and how to beat press and man coverages. His long arms can easily keep defenders at bay trying to jam him off the line. Perry would be a tremendous red zone target that has scored a ton of touchdowns at WF ( 26 in two seasons )
Weakness. Perry needs to add some muscle if he’s going to duke it out with bigger defensive backs at the next level. And, Perry will already be 24 by the end of the season. ( Hold your Velus Jones jokes. ) Typically star receivers have broken out at a much younger age.
Lazy Comparison; A.J Green. Early A.J Green, where he came into the league he was slender before adding some muscle and I see a lot of similarities in their game. He isnt the flashiest, but unlike other prospects were we get enamored in relatively trivial details ( like being a “freak athlete” ) A.T Perry excels at the skills it takes to stay make it in the league.
He could carve out a nice niche on a team in need of a pass catcher ( Cardinals, Ravens, Rams ) A lot of scouts that know their stuff have quietly been telling anyone that will listen that A.T is one of the most gifted players at the WR position in the entire draft. Let him remain a secret and if you have a late pick on draft day, give him a look.
