2024 Outlook
Overview
Momentum is on the Packer’s side as Titletown, USA looks to capitalize on a big 2023. The biggest development was that of Jordan Love and his first season as starting QB. His play surged from the beginning of the season to the end where they won a playoff game (in convincing fashion for that matter).
Passing
Jordan Love is ascending quickly into a tier where many may place him around the top 10. He is athletic, accurate and smart in the pocket. He took all the time to learn behind Aaron Rodgers and it seems to be paying off. He is elevating the play of those around him and could really show to be something special in his second full season of being the starting QB for the Packers.
Rushing
Out goes long-time leading rusher Aaron Jones and in comes 2022 rushing champion Josh Jacobs from the Raiders. He presents a potential upgrade to the Packers rushing attack that saw a decline in the production from Jones. While both Jones and Jacobs missed several games last season, Jones has 3 more years on Jacobs. We may have seen Jones’ best years so the Packers decided to get younger at RB while their offense is still on the rise.
Receiving
The riches in youth in the receiving room is many in Green Bay. As of today, all of their top 5 wide receivers and both of their top tight ends are 25 years old or younger. The problem with this group is the fact that there is no de-facto #1 option. Christian Watson was projected to be the #1 option last season but injuries derailed his second season in the NFL. Romeo Doubs is a steady presence to remain in the starting cast. Dontayvion Wicks has come on strong after a solid rookie outing and could see more of a role this upcoming season. The one that may stick out after a stellar end to the campaign is Jayden Reed who finished as WR25 overall but was a sure-fire top-15 option the second half of the season. It remains to be seen if Reed will continue to act as the #1 option in the passing game. Also, don’t forget about TE’s Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. Both acted as starters to some degree; Kraft played when Musgrave was injured and played well. Both offer fantasy upside with Musgrave having the advantage despite injury concerns.
Defense
The Green Bay defense continues to be chock-full of playmakers from top to bottom. To go with lockdown CB Jaire Alexander in the defensive backfield, they signed stud S Xavier McKinney to aid in the secondary. That’s just the guy they needed to shore up what may have been the biggest weakness to a stout defense. Young mainstays in Quay Walker, Devonte Wyatt and Rashan Gary teaming up with veteran monsters in Kenny Clark and Preston Smith will help develop a pair of high-pedigree rookies in S Javon Bullard and LB Edgerrin Cooper who both have a chance to make an immediate impact.
Fantasy Impact
Jordan Love will be no lower than a Top-15 QB this year. He will push to be a consistent Top-10 QB over several years if he can maintain his progress he had in his first year as a starter. Josh Jacobs always has potential to be a Top-10 RB and can be drafted that way. Jayden Reed is looking like the most likely to succeed in the Packers passing game. He’s being drafted around WR35 with Doubs and Watson going around WR45-50. Wicks is a great late-round sleeper to target with potential breakout written all over him. Musgrave is a nice late-round backup TE who could be beneficial later in the season at full strength.
