2023 Outlook

This is a do or die season for this Kevin Stefanski coaching staff. His record is 26-24 but after the Browns gave Deshaun Watson a huge contract last season and now, he has a full off-season to work with him, this team has to take a step forward towards the playoffs. At least they need 10 wins or more or this staff is probably looking for a job.

The Browns have some of the best weapons on offense of any team in the league and if they can get the production out of Deshaun Watson close to what he had in 2020 with the Texans (4,823 yards and 33 TDs) then this team will be a tough one to beat. They also have one of the best offensive lines in the league to keep Watson upright.

At Wide Receiver, they still have Amari Cooper, and Donovan People-Jones, but the traded for Elijah Moore and drafted Cedric Tillman. They still have David Bell and they brought in Marquise Goodwin. This is a solid group, and I am excited to see what Moore does with Watson throwing him the ball. I think Cedric Tillman could be the future.

At Running Back, it’s a Nick Chubb backfield. Kareem Hunt has moved on and the Browns have led up to believe that they have moved on. They do have second year RB Jerome Ford who is supposed to feel that Hunt role and Demetric Felton Jr. On paper this is a thin RB group and I expect them to bring in a depth piece, but for fantasy this is all Chubb.

At Tight End, they have David Njoku who showed last season that he could be the security blanket for Jacoby Brissett and Watson. I look for another good season for Njoku but if you are looking for a sleeper TE, look no further that Jordan Akins who they signed from the Texans and who Watson trusted when they played together. The Browns defense was ranked 20th overall last season and DC Joe Woods was replaced by Jim Schwartz. Schwartz is well respected around the league as a DC that can get the most out of his players and he alone should have them take a step forward, but they need other dudes outside of Myles Garrett to step up and make a difference.

At the end of the day, this team is built to win and win now, but if they don’t there could be an overhaul of the coaching staff. I expect them to take that step and be competitive in the incredibly difficult AFC and improved AFC North.
