2023 Outlook

As FantasyHolic’s resident Lions fan, I will make this as unbiased as possible. With that being said, the Lions are coming off a good finish to the 2022 where they won 8 of their final 10 games but barely missed the playoffs. They had one of the most explosive offenses last year finishing top 5 in points per game. They struggled early in the season on defense allowing 32 PPG in their first 7 games but came on strong at the end of the season finishing allowing 20.2 PPG.

Their next leap they want to make is to win their division for the first time since 1993. They need to keep their offense churning at the same pace as last season while improving their defense. They did just that in the draft when they drafted RB Jahmyr Gibbs and TE Sam LaPorta to their offense and LB Jack Campbell and DB Brian Branch to their defense; all of whom could potentially be Day 1 starters. In free agency, they made their biggest mark by upgrading the secondary by signing Cameron Sutton, Emmanuel Moseley and CJ Gardner-Johnson along with signing David Montgomery to run alongside Gibbs. The Lions hype has substance to it and could actually turn into something for the 2023 season.
